  Smith Best for GovernorLetter to the Editor: Published in the Star News on April 29, 2008. It's great to see people involved in our Republican gubernatorial campaigns. Fred Smith was raised partially in
Brunswick County, and has strong family ties to Brunswick and New Hanover
counties. He has visited this area many times and listened to local citizens and
leaders, especially the last two years. Fred would not only bring change in
Raleigh, he actually knows how. As
for Mr. McCrory, I'm sure he's a nice fellow. As far as I
know, he
has not publicly visited Brunswick County, may or may not know where it is and
what it needs, and has been quoted as saying that he is in the race to benefit
Charlotte. As county GOP chairman, I usually do not take sides in a primary. However, for our area there is one clear choice for Governor and it is Fred Smith. Frank ILEROak Island, NC
