ASHEVILLE,
NC--The North Carolina Chapter of
Eagle Forum, a leading pro-family organization founded by Phyllis Schlafly,
fully supports and endorses Senator Fred Smith in the Republican primary for
Governor of North Carolina. A lifelong North Carolinian, Senator Smith served
his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army JAG Corps after law school at Wake
Forest University. He would go on to become a successful attorney,
entrepreneur, farmer and homebuilder. Today, Senator Smith's family business
provides over 600 jobs in Wake and Johnston Counties. Since he was elected to
the State Senate, Smith has consistently sponsored pro-family legislation such
as the Taxpayer Protection Act and an Amendment to the State Constitution,
defending traditional marriage.
"Senator Smith has the experience and the integrity to
restore trust in the governor's office," stated Eagle Forum State President,
Andrew Dunn. "The good people of North
Carolina have had it with corruption scandals,
illegal immigration and partisan politics," Dunn continued. "It's time to move
forward and elect a leader who will put the citizens of North Carolina ahead of special interest
groups; Fred Smith is such a leader."
"Senator Smith could easily have chosen to focus on the
major metropolitan areas but thankfully he didn't," Dunn said. "Rather, he
chose to visit all 100 counties in our great state and connect with the
grassroots - something that's way overdue. He's heard from our laid-off
furniture, textile and other manufacturing workers. He's heard from parents
concerned about failing public schools and from working families, struggling
under crippling taxes."
Eagle Forum's Mission is to
enable conservative and pro-family men and women to participate in the process
of self-government and public policy making so that America will continue to be a land
of individual liberty, respect for family integrity, public and private virtue,
and private enterprise. For more information, visit www.eagleforumnc.org
