Beaufort County's Senator Fred Smith Rally a Success

Senator Fred Smith chooses to utilize grassroots organizations to send his message.

COUNTY NC NEWS -- Yesterday on a dreary Monday evening, more than eighty citizens gathered at the Washington High School in the City of Washington, located in Beaufort County, North Carolina, to attend Senator Fred Smith's campaign rally in support of his candidacy for Governor 2008. Lee Greenwood, a close friend and supporter of Smith, preformed flawlessly ending the evening event by singing, "God Bless America" with the entire audience. Greenwood is also the official spokesperson for Operation Never Forgotten (ONF), and travels extensively in Iraq and Kuwait entertaining and supporting our Troops deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Senator Smith energized the crowd by pointing out that North Carolina needs leadership that does not tolerate the deletion of email sent to public agencies, and is willing to address the issues concerning the people. The Senator further stated he will use the information he has accumulated from the attendees of his BBQ Tours to lay the foundation for his plan to reform North Carolina government. Listen for yourself "Senator Fred Smith at Washington High School."

Now, eighty people may seem a small number, but it should be noted that Senator Smith is quite unorthodox when it comes to publicity. Being a successful entrepreneur and multimillionaire, as you are aware could flood North Carolina mainstream media with advertisements. Instead, Senator Fred Smith chooses to utilize grassroots organizations to send his message. My only conclusion to this strange behavior from a politician, is that Senator Smith wants to be nominated by the people. Not due to the commercial psychological pounding we as citizens receive every election year from the mainstream media. In other words, Smith wants people to vote for him with the use of their own free judgement, not because they've heard radio and television commercials telling them, "Hi, I'm . . . the right man for North Carolina Governor 2008, so vote for me because I'm always right and never lie."

Furthermore, Senator Smith was introduced by an active member of the Beaufort County Republican Party, who wrote the following article on Beaufort County's annual Reagan Day Dinner on March, 7, 2008. At that event more than 100 party members attended. Therefore, comparing the numbers in attendance at both events, leads one to deduct that Senator Smith possibly holds a firm 75% support of his candidacy for governor by the most active Republicans in Beaufort County, North Carolina. Then again, it could also show that many are still undecided?

In conclusion, I do not wish anyone to misconstrue my statements within this article as an endorsement for Smith. I just thought this style of campaigning peculiar and interesting information about the Senator Fred Smith. As a matter of fact, it is rather refreshing to find a politician actually campaigning for office instead of trying to buy his way in.
